Never jump into any property deal be it buying, selling, financing, managing, renting, letting or developing until you’ve verified that the property people and company you’re dealing with are legit.

That means making sure they’re not just “in the property business” but that they are legitimately qualified, registered and legally licensed to practice and receive money through property related transactions and contracts.

What should you look for? Simple:

Are they registered with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA)?
Do they have a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC)?

Don’t be shy about asking them! If they can’t or won’t show you proof of these credentials then walk away fast and report them to the PPRA. A valid FFC protects you from shady property operators, legal nightmares and financial devastation. A valid FFC is not an ‘option’ for property practitioners. It’s the law.
